Declaration
1. Members of the Berkshire Search & Rescue Dog Unit are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While we understand that school, work and family commitments are priorities, are you willing to make every effort to respond to incident callouts?

2. Do you understand that we may call you at work, school or in the middle of the night? Will this pose a problem for you?

3. Do you understand that you will need to provide items of your own personal equipment?

You will be in a probationary status until appropriately qualified. During this time, you are expected to show commitment to all group training days and meetings, as well as your own personal/private training outside of the group sessions. At the end of this period, you will be evaluated on attendance, training, professionalism, and ability to carry out assignments and the ability to work with and get along with other members of the unit. Successful completion of this probation period and evaluation will result in the offer of full membership.

4. Do you understand this process?

5. Do you feel it will pose any problems for you?

As a member of the Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs Unit, you will be expected to work closely with and under the direction of members of various police forces. You may be assigned to carry out tasks such as: field work in rough terrain and poor weather conditions, communications, medical aid, or others as needed. Safety is a top priority, and you may be reassigned if you feel you are not ready for an assignment or are unable to perform it.

Background Investigation:

All prospective members will have a confidential background investigation which includes a criminal history check performed by the Police. It is important to the police authority & the unit that all handlers are of sound character and show good personal conduct. Members will often be involved in sensitive situations requiring trust and the ability to respect confidentiality. They will also be expected to maintain the personal lifestyle of an up-standing, law abiding citizen.

I understand any false statements and/or deliberate misrepresentations, whether by omission or commission, will result in my application being automatically and irrevocably rejected from further consideration. I hereby authorise Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs to contact the referees on my application, I certify that I have read the above statement, understand it's contents.
