As a member of the Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs Unit, you will be expected to work closely with
and under the direction of members of various police forces. You may be assigned to carry out tasks
such as: field work in rough terrain and poor weather conditions, communications, medical aid, or others
as needed. Safety is a top priority, and you may be reassigned if you feel you are not ready for an
assignment or are unable to perform it.
Background Investigation:
All prospective members will have a confidential background investigation which includes a criminal
history check performed by the Police. It is important to the police authority & the unit
that all handlers are of sound character and show good personal conduct. Members will often be
involved in sensitive situations requiring trust and the ability to respect confidentiality. They will also be
expected to maintain the personal lifestyle of an up-standing, law abiding citizen.
I understand any false statements and/or deliberate misrepresentations, whether by omission or
commission, will result in my application being automatically and irrevocably rejected from further
