About Rick Rick didn’t have the best start in life, but that was soon to change, when he met Janice. Janice and Rick were made for each other. Janice had fallen for this cheeky boy, with the biggest ears she had ever seen on a Border Collie, and his naughty black spots on his front legs! Rick had a very active social life, training with The Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs, at every opportunity and also doing agility which he loved. Sadly due to a very short illness, Rick passed away aged only 3 & half years and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was a fun and loving dog who will remain in Janice's heart forever! |

About Sky ‘Sky’, born 10th July 1999 We set out to look for a Chocolate Lab and came home from Holiday in Scotland with a Red and Tan Australian Kelpie bitch. We called her ‘Sky’. With her beautiful red hair, amber eyes and painted white toes she won our hearts at first sight. She played big sister at the age of six months to my terrier Whiz’s puppies. Someone said do agility with her. But mum could not run fast enough and she would she would let me know with loud barks. She became a cover girl for ‘Dogs Today’ at the tender age of 18 months. They could not resist her beauty. Needless to say she did not tire of posing for them at the photo shoot. We then turned our attention to Search and Rescue and with the help of Sal and Tim Chewter and LSDogs Sussex in 2003. Sky passed her first level 2 in August 2004. She went on to pass a level 2 with Tom and taught him how to search with a dog ( He will openly admit this). To be honest, it was said that if she could work the radio she would have gone by herself. Having become a member of Berkshire in 2007, she then went on to pass her level 3. She answered over 50 calls for help over her years of service and took part in three searches that saved lives. She spent her summer months attending shows, giving demonstrations and going to schools helping nervous children to trust dogs. She had a four page spread about her work with Sussex in ‘Dogs Today’ and then represented all Lowland Search Groups when she appeared in ‘Country Life Magazine’ in Christmas 2008. All she asked in return was that she got play with her favourite squeaky toy. But most importantly she was our Little Red Dog. She was full of life and full of love. She went to sleep in my arms in our front room on the Tuesday morning. Her brothers and sisters then all spent time with us both, having a quiet cuddle with her. ‘Dignity’ saw that she was cremated with full honours in her Search Coat with her favourite toy. I know she is now in doggy heaven with her old play mate ‘Freddie’. Sleep well my girl you deserve it. ‘Brosley Sienna Sky’ Called to Heavens Search Team, Tuesday 29th December 2009. |
